Lock in Love…Love and acceptance

I love this…We all should read this! Lock in LOVE!

The boy you punched in the hall today…committed suicide a few minutes ago. That girl you called a slut in class today…she is a virgin. The boy you called lame…he has to work every night to support his family. That girl you pushed down the other day…is already being abused at home. You think you know them…guess what, you don’t!!!! Teach your children to care about and respect one another.

Love Padlocks! Hohenzollern Bridge, Cologne, Germany 2011

No matter how many times I see this bridge it still takes by breath away.  The amount of LOVE padlocks attached to the Hohenzollern Bridge is amazing.  If all of us could just share even a portion of this LOVE and ACCEPTANCE with someone else, the world would defiantly be a better place.  Share this amazing tradition with someone special and experience the universal connection!  Enjoy this video…

Make “Locking Your Love” safe, social and legal…

City bans skateboarding…deemed dangerous

City Council  voted to add an ordinance to the city’s municipal code that would prohibit skateboarding and similar activities in certain areas of the city, such as steep canyons and parking lots, where they are considered dangerous. The city will post signs prohibiting skateboarding on 10 public streets; violators will be fined between $25 and $100.

Make skateboard parks? Humm?  Why not?

Create a public park that can be skated: Most skateparks are ugly. They have giant fences around them; are made of one material; have no shade, trees or landscaping around them and often don’t even have a place to sit.  Skateboarders can share space with other park users, in particular when skating street style elements. Cities should create places to skateboard with high-quality, durable materials and provide seating, landscaping, trees and shade.   Many cities have done just that...safe, social and secure places for everyone to enjoy!

Make “Locking Your Love” safe, social and legal…

Create a public place where people can ‘lock their love”: City officials are saying that bridges, fences and gates adorned with custom engraved love padlocks (aka) Lovelocks are an ugly eyesore.  Couples, families and friends can share space with other park users.  Cities should create places that provide seating, landscaping, trees and shade for this wonderful tradition of LOVE to continue in their communities.  We call it Lock Art.  If making skateboard parks proved to be a positive application then …Why not a “Lovescape” (structure) for people to affix their Lovelocks?

We love this comment and the great photo about Love Padlocks.  This is a beautiful LOVE tradition and a real token of LOVE by couples, families and friends.  Countries and cities around the world should look at creating a safe a legal place for people to “lock their love”.

In several countries the local authorities and owners of various landmarks have expressed concern and even tried to have the padlocks removed. In Paris Town Hall in May 2010 expressed concern over the growing number of love-locks on the Pont des Arts, Passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor and the Pont de l’Archevêché bridges, stating: “they raise problems for the preservation of our architectural heritage”. Lovelocks disappeared suddenly in 2010, but the Administration denied responsibility. The Pont de l’Archevêché saw the return of those love-locks immediately.

Deutsche Bahn threatened to have the locks removed from the Hohenzollern Bridge in Cologne. Deutsche Bahn is the bridge’s operator, but in the end relented in the face of public opposition.
In Canada love padlocks appearing along the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet on Vancouver Island, has caused some diversion as the locks are considered a distraction from nature by some.

In Florence, Italy, 5,500 love padlocks affixed to the Ponte Vecchio bridge were removed by the city council. According to the council the padlocks pose both an aesthetic problem as well as scratch and dent the metal of the bridge.
